Urban Planning Concept for Ai' jian New City, Harbin proposed a site with total area of 93hectares located on the west end of Friendship Road, by Songhua River (a former train factory site). The project design is to have 2.05 million square metres is the greatest urban renovation in the history of the city. A design for a large theme water park, as the centre of the new area used principles of the ¡® new urbanism theory¡¯ from North America. The design retained the original urban style and flavour. The attention to human scale was carefully detailed. This design was highly praised by all the jury members.
