This Hangzhou Goushanli project is in close proximity to the famous tourist attraction of West Lake, Hangzhou Fine Arts Institute and other outstanding architecture locations. The goal of the design is to blend in prestigious offices and luxurious shops with the traditional Hangzhou urban context. The design preserves four historical buildings and respects the 15m building height.

Design considerations included the following. A maximum of open space and property value, the use of the natural side-yards, as exterior courtyards, the promotion of the retail shops being open to the street, and the preservation of the interior space as quiet, private and secluded. An underground area as large as possible with one parking system. Each unit has an individual entrance and an elegant facade.

The site plan convey a balance of the private owner and the public city’s interests. To match the high level image of the clientele KFS used a design language for the facades with shapes characteristic of stability and sophistication. For a harmonious surrounding environment the facade materials are chosen with great care.

KFS paid respect to the traditional Hangzhou atmosphere and building fabric through the use of materials of grey brick, sandstone and glass. The composition of materials is in harmony with West Lake. For an exquisite touch and finest class we introduced, in addition to the traditional materialization, timber, red brick and steel. It will be the landmark of Nanshan Road.
