Communication Bank Tower, Harbin |
||
The site located in downtown Harbin at the 'T-cross' intersection of Youyi Road and Shanghai Street. The site has a direct view to the Songhuajiang River to the north. The design is based on the interior plan expression on the exterior of the building. The local culture of Harbin has a strong influence on the design for the exterior elevation. The architectural detail of the elevation is conservative yet imbued with a subtle elegance. The exterior stonework is consistent with the Harbin architectural heritage and fulfils the modern building expectations of Harbin. The 'ice-city' of northern China is reflected in the cascading exterior glazed design of the west elevation with a frozen waterfall image to the urban cityscape. The facade opens up the interior of the building as a significant gesture symbolizing the connection of the city and the information technology era. Site area: 0.55 ha
